Covered Bridge

Bridges are practical but also symbolic of that which sometimes is required to unite two sides. They join people together. A covered bridge, because it's old-fashioned but still functional, is a link between the past and the present to the future. I hope for all of this in this blog, that it be a place to share ideas, to share experiences in traveling the road of life.

Friendships are also bridges. This painting is a watercolor by my friend, Diane Widler Wenzel. I came home one day from town and propped up on a chair there it was. She had been out to paint while I was not and she painted the nearby covered bridge with our lilacs in full bloom. It is symbolic of a giving friendship of many years and the bridge that stands behind it of two women who met many years ago, shared their lives, their thoughts and stayed friends through it all.
